Our purpose is to provide professional, compassionate care honoring each person's autonomy and dignity while supporting their loved one's through the emotional and physical challenges at the end of life.
As the founder of PRN Idaho, PLLC, Shirley Perata has been working in the nursing specialty area of hospice since 2010. Having worked as a nurse case manager, admissions nurse, revisit nurse and night time on-call nurse (responding to medical emergencies), she saw a recurring theme. Families, trying to honor their dying loved ones wishes to die peacefully at home, were often overwhelmed and exhausted. While Hospice is a vital service, the day in-day out around the clock bedside care is not part of the hospice benefit. Seeing a need for licensed professionals who are able to perform skilled care specializing in end of life care and providing respite to loved ones inspired PRN Idaho. PRN Idaho can do hourly, daily and nighttime shifts to relieve families and give them a chance to take care of themselves, do necessary personal errands outside of the home, attend important events, get a much needed night of sleep.
Shirley's inspiration to become a hospice nurse started when her mother, Peggy, was battling cancer. Her father, Robert, was the primary caregiver and everyone could see the physical and emotional exhaustion and the toll it took on him to provide the daily care and watch his beloved wife dying. Becoming a nurse and being able to help other families navigate the difficult times and provide comfort care to dying patients has been an honor for Shirley and is her passion and purpose.
